Meet the Avara team- Jamie Ray
We love our Avara team members, and we want to share their passion for innovating better ways to build. This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Jamie Ray, our talented Project Coordinator.
Jamie first discovered her knack for project management when she accepted a position as a project manager with a fire sprinkler company. She said, “ I felt like I was very successful in my role, and that’s when I got interested in the construction field. I knew I wanted to work in a broader realm, which made me interested in joining a general contractor company. I like the fast pace, and there’s always something new to learn about the process.”
The fact that Jamie enjoys a fast pace and a little unpredictability makes her very good at her job. She often has to improvise and shuffle schedules to ensure everything is done on time and on budget. We appreciate her attention to detail and commitment to solving a problem.
In her position as project coordinator, Jamie wears a lot of hats. Her primary focus is streamlining communications between our superintendents, subcontractors, and clients, particularly around our Request for Information (RFI) and submittal process. She also leads the charge with all closeout documents at the end of the project. In addition to wrangling our laborers’ schedules, she is the in-house IT guru.
We’ve enjoyed watching Jamie grow and learn, and we can’t wait to see where her career with Avara takes her. When we asked why she enjoys working at Avara, Jamie said:
“I enjoy the company of each and every person that works for Avara. It feels like everyone truly enjoys each other’s company. I feel like Ben and the whole office team go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy and getting the support they need every day. If we know someone is going through a hard time in their work or personal life, we try to do something special for them to brighten their day. I feel like that is rare to have in the workplace.”
When Jamie isn’t busy keeping everyone on track, she and her dog are out enjoying the outdoors with her camera in tow. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Jamie enjoys finding new places to explore in Washington, particularly in autumn when the leaves are changing color. She’s also very close to her family and enjoys spending weekends with friends watching the Seahawks (Go Hawks!), hiking, playing soccer or volleyball, wine tasting, or relaxing at home.
We want to extend a big thank you to Jamie for being part of the Avara Team!
